Betty Powers

With my fellow screenwriter Rasmus Borowski I once was inventing this story about a comic book amazon girl who suddenly enters the real world. With her kind of destructive behaviour and simple 'good vs. evil' way of thinking she brings some trouble to the life of the artist who created her. In the somewhat crazy and silly action filled storyline she has to fight against censorship, police special forces and the ban of her own comic series. The idea was to make a movie like "Roger Rabbit" but with a boys fantasy of a sexy comic book heroine. Of course it was too expensive and too badly written, so "Europacorp" wasn't interested. Nevertheless it was funny to write and to design the main character BETTY POWERS.

GOETHE!

These are just a view examples of the great amount of drawings I did for the feature film Goethe! directed by Philipp Stölzl. Philipp likes to do storyboards for his scenes. It was exciting to see how this images drawn from imagination and references came to life in the finished film.
The film has a quite unusal approach because it deals with young Johann Goethes coming of age, his first love and breakthrough with Werther...

The film will be released in autumn 2010.

Séance

I recently finished these moods for the presentation of the Rasmus Borowski film project Séance.

The story is about the young Anya who finds herself chased by a mysterious russian society which had something to do with the dark orphanage past of her late mother. As Anyas older sister Valeska disappears from Hamburg, she teams up with Mr. Antonov, who tries to convince her that she's a strong medium like her mother once was...

Storyboard sketches

...sketching out the scenes is the most fun in doing storyboards. Especually when there's heavy machinery like helicopters and boats involved. This was for Das Geheimnis der Wale, a ZDF/ TeamworX production starring Veronica Ferres, Christopher Lambert and Mario Adorf, directed by Philipp Kadelbach.

Point of view

One night, one strange incident. A gas station is robbed but who is the victim and who committed the crime? In another kind of 'Rashomon' storytelling some typical Berlin characters like the young, angry, suburbian girl and the infamous TV celebrity are involved and tell their very own version of the crime...

I wanted to combine the classic idea of showing different flashbacks with a 'one night' action thriller like After hours or Running scared in the present timeline.

We shot this in two nights with famous TV actor Sascha Hehn, we all know so well from his 1980s appearances in Traumschiff and Schwarzwaldklinik. Here, he returns with an exceptional performance as an egomanic TV host. Karolina Lodyga (Anna und die Liebe) played Lucie and was acting in front of a camera for the first time.
Me and the production company Kaminski.stiehm.film hope to produce the feature film in 2010.
